Calvary Lutheran Church

Location: Parma, Ohio

About Calvary Lutheran Church

Calvary Lutheran Church is located in Parma, Ohio. It was founded in the early 1950s by a group of believers who saw a need for a church in Parma. Many of its early congregation was of Slovak heritage. By 1957, the church purchased 12 acres of property with a small cottage situated (and is still part of the current church facilities). The congregation’s first sanctuary was constructed in 1958.

studioTECHNE’s Work with Calvary Lutheran Church

Like most church remodeling and renovation ventures, studioTECHNE led the congregation on a comprehensive master planning process. This is part of the worship/church remodeling process as it is designed to analyze the growth opportunities of the facilities as well as solve several basic difficulties the congregation was experiencing.

The Problem

The activities within the buildings were hidden from the street and occurred in the back of current facilities and, the places for fellowship and education were cramped and uninviting.

Our Solution for Calvary Lutheran Church

As part of the church remodeling project, studioTECHNE proposed demolition of portions of the facility and the construction of a new narthex which provided the required fellowship space and was visible from the street. This project will be implemented in phases over the next ten years.
